Scouting With Churros and Chocolate Sauce

Churros with Chocolate Sauce

This is the beautifully easy recipe used for the Scouts Big Weekend festival in May 2015.  I had many requests for this recipe throughout the weekend so I hope this will be some use to you!

A massive thanks to the Nottinghamshire Scouting groups for asking me to attend.

Simple Ingredients

250g Plain White Flour

1tsp Baking Powder

50g Unsalted Butter – melted

350ml Boiling Water

Oil for frying – I prefer Crisp n Dry

Chocolate Sauce

100g Dark Chocolate roughly chopped

75g Double Cream

1tbsp Golden Syrup

  1. Sift the flour and baking powder into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add the melted butter and boiling water and stir vigorously to combine
  3. Leave to cool for 10 mins.
  4. Spoon the dough into a large piping bag fitted with a star nozzle
  5. Heat the oil to 160c then pipe the dough mixture straight into the pan.
  6. Fry Churros for around 90 seconds each, until golden brown.
  7. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on some kitchen paper.
  8. Sprinkle with Cinnamon Sugar and place into a serving bowl.
  9. Place the Double Cream and Golden Syrup into a pan and heat until boiling
  10. Pour over the chocolate and gently stir to combine and melt

  1. Howdy. I’m wondering if you could let me have a contact for the scout group re may weekend away. We are wanting to offer them drum workshops for next years camp. With many thanks. And – I’ve copied your recipe and I’m looking forward to trying it out with my family of many girls! Thanks. Pam

  2. I might have to try these at home, seeing as I didn’t get to eat any while you were cooking them. I’ll also make sure I don’t have too much oil in the pan 🙂

Send me a message, I promise I don't bite!
